Artisan Soundcrafts is a small, family run shop specializing in unique, hand-crafted furniture for creative spaces

Who We Are

Artisan Soundcrafts is run by Joe Spallina along with his sons Joey and Matthew.

The son of a music teacher and a shop teacher, Joe grew up immersed in both the industrial and fine arts; the confluence of which, Artisan Soundcrafts strives to inhabit.

While Joe's career has included stints as a machinist, jet engine mechanic, cabinetmaker, and running a custom millwork shop, he has done the bulk of his recent work as a builder, project manager, and owner's rep. with such notable properties as 1049 Fifth Avenue: the transformation of a 23-story 1920's era hotel into the highest priced luxury apartments ever offered for sale in New York City. Joe's experience with design and construction at its highest level, along with a his prodigious mechanical aptitude and craftsmanship provide Artisan Soundcrafts with invaluable substance, ingrained in all they produce. He nurtures his musical affinities as the co-president of the Westchester Oratorio Society.

A commercial composer by trade, Joey Spallina began his career in this field as a studio technician for Salvatto Sound by building, wiring, acoustically treating, and engineering sound studios throughout the New York area. When a project called for custom furniture or fine woodworking, Joey recruited his father to resurrect his cabinet shop to fill the client's need. As these opportunities mounted, they brought Matthew, who has a business background, into the fold. Over the last decade, the two sons have studied under their father while developing their own specialties.

Joey has honed his skills as a designer: studying fine furniture design and construction, and becoming proficient in CAD.  He has also become adept at designing and incorporating task-specific electronics and functionality into his pieces; born of his day to day experience refining his own composer's workstation, as well as designing and maintaining the infrastructure of Tonefarmer: the multi-room recording facility where he does his music work.
